Chapter 10 Part II

The Confrontation

Realization strikes the Prince like a lightning bolt, jolting him to stumble back in shock. His roars of anger fill the forest, revealing his frustration in a cacophony. His desperate gaze darts around, searching for his Bodyguards, expecting them to come to his aid. But to his dismay, they are nowhere to be found, like the forest just swallowed them alive.

In a last-ditch effort for support to turn the tide, he bellows, “Guards!” His voice echoing through the stillness of the forest, hoping his Bodyguards could answer his call.

Sobek’s chuckles, his eyes gleaming with malicious glee as he revels in the Prince’s helplessness. “Your father should’ve taken my deal.”

Knowing of his Father’s decision to say no to a Reptilian race, he assumes this vile creature is seeking revenge. There is no time to delay. In a surge of rage and determination, he charges at Sobek. Digging his hind paws deep into the earth, he propels himself forward. With fierce strength from his powerful hind legs, he thrusts himself into the air with a deafening roar, his felid-blades poised to strike down.

Anticipating the move, Sobek sidesteps him with only a split second to react. As the blades descend toward him, he hears them whistling past his ear. He ducks the incoming blow and raises his hand claws upward. Unleashing a blast of telekinetic energy toward the Prince. A powerful and invisible force thrust him backwards, causing him to crash his back into a tree.

His crash makes the forest quiver with the immense force of the collision, sending shockwaves through the ancient trees. The resounding thump reverberates through the air, jolting the surroundings.

A family of birds flees from their peaceful perches, bursting into the sky in a frantic flurry of feathers. Their melodious songs of serenity turn into panicked chirps of fear. Now echoing through the forest’s canopy.

When the Prince hits the ground, he lets out a pain-filled moan. Twigs and leaves shower down upon him from above.

Sobek took a hop to his left and mirrored it to his right, jabbing his fists in the air like a boxer. His voice dripping with mockery. “Wooooo! Big fella,” He taunts, asserting his superiority. “Your fat father never taught you how to fight?”

In response, his adversary unleashes a furious roar, outraged by this creature’s sarcasm and insults.

But there is a pounding in his head, followed by warm blood seeping through his matted mane. He realizes the collision has cracked his skull. The gentle breeze brushing against the open wound, sending searing stings through his head.

He attempts to focus on his next move. His mind is still reeling from the shock of Sobek’s telekinetic powers. Questions flood his mind. What the hell is that? What did this creature want? Where are my Bodyguards? But he needs the courage to take down this dangerous Reptilian to get answers.

The Prince picks himself up, wincing in pain from his head and back. Scanning his surroundings frantically for any sign of his Bodyguards. They are still nowhere in sight, only the dark trees looming around the forest like ominous sentinels.
